This March I embarked on a trip across Europe to visit Colditz Castle near Leipzig, where my Grandfather was imprisoned for 4 years during WW2. It was a moving experience to be there, to remember him and his fellow officers and honour the enormous bravery, courage and resilience they showed.
By chance journalist John Sergeant was visiting at the same time, on the guided tour led brilliantly by Steffi who wove together the historical narratives, offering compassion and understanding of the suffering endured on all sides.
